Great Blue Herons
One of my favorite marsh birds is the Great Blue Heron, which exhibits a unique blend of delicacy and boldness. My grandmother and I would spend hours observing these birds in the creeks of Murrells Inlet; she would even stop the car to watch one hunt in a pond. The Great Blue Heron never failed to bring her immense joy, always eliciting a beautiful bright smile on her face.
These two Great Blue Herons can be sold together or separately. When purchased together, they create a stunning and regal visual display, making them an ideal addition to a law office or beach house. Sold separately, they remain powerful pieces, featuring a dramatic look with a beautiful, rich background that accentuates each bird on canvas.
Spoonbill in Marsh at Pawleys
Every time I visit Huntington Beach near Litchfield, SC, I always check for spoonbills while crossing the bridge. They have a substantial flock there, and observing them dance in the sun and sea is truly a beautiful sight. This is my recollection of a spoonbill I watched one afternoon with my mother.
The Great Brown Pelican
Another favorite bird of my grandmother's was the Great Brown Pelican . She would always have her binoculars at the ready while at the beach, in order to capture the perfect formation of them flying by. During our walks along the shore, she would maintain her focus on the sky, persistently scanning for these huge birds of the sea . Her fascination with these them would continue at the numerous piers where fishing was permitted. She would approach these structures with great enthusiasm, anticipating the opportunity to observe a pelican feeding on discarded fish at close range, which would undoubtedly make her day. I have recreated one of those pelicans on canvas, a bird that we had the pleasure of observing together many years ago.
Pawleys Gator with Bling Grill
One of my favorite reptiles in Pawleys Island is the alligator, you never know when one will show up on a golf course or in a grocery store parking lot . This huge (3ft by 4ft) painting is a tribute to them and all the mischief they cause .
